The NFL is one of America’s largest sport leagues with over 16 million viewers. It is not uncommon to find a person who likes to take a break from their stressful work life and watch their favorite team play. This is because many people like that it comes without the attachments of politics that many other channels have embedded within them. On September 1st, 2016 a man by the name of Colin Kaepernick decided to kneel during the national anthem.
To give a little context, Colin Kaepernick was a quarterback for the San Fransisco 49ers when he began kneeling in fall of 2016. When he was questioned by the NFL Media he said, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.” His comments and actions came following a series of cases of alleged “police brutality” by the left wing. This leaves the questions of whether the police brutality cases claimed by the liberals really existed and if Kaepernick’s decisions were justified.
The reason why several NFL players say they kneel during the national anthem is because of race inequality and police brutality. However, several of the alleged police brutality cases* were extremely exaggerated, left out details, or contained false information used to make the police in the situations look racist.
One of the most brought up cases of this was the Michael Brown shooting that was claimed by many nationwide to be an injustice against racial minorities. They claimed that Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and ultimately killed Michael Brown, was a racist who was responsible for police brutality. However, many facts in this case were left highly unseen and unspoken of. To start off, Michael Brown and his friend, Dorian Johnson, were caught on video surveillance stealing cigarillos at 11:54 AM on August 9th, 2014. At 12:01 PM Darren Wilson, a police officer for the Ferguson Police Department, pulled up to them in his police car and asked them to move to the sidewalk because they fit the description of the suspects from the theft at the convenience store. Police investigators found Brown’s DNA outside as well as inside the drivers door. Upon medical examination, Darren Wilson showed redness and swelling on his face. Both of these observations by professionals indicated some sort of fight between the officer and Michael Brown near the drivers door. This fight was likely initiated by Brown seeing as his DNA was found inside the drivers door suggesting that he reached inside the vehicle and assaulted Wilson. Both the most credible witness at the scene and Wilson said that Brown, after running several yards away from the vehicle following the his assault of the officer, charged at the officer after making an “aggravated sound.” All of this evidence coerced the grand jury to not indict Officer Wilson. The evidence and the most credible witness report also proposed that Brown threatened the officer primarily physically but also verbally in a way that caused the officer to fear for his life and justifiably shoot Brown.
A poll done by cato.org found that only 19% of left wing democrats said that they supported the firing of NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem as opposed to the 65% of republicans. The U.S Code in chapter one of title four states that (§8), “No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America.” It goes on to describe how to respect the flag during the raising and anthem playing of the flag and says (§9), “Persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart.” This clearly shows that the NFL players who kneel are violating the United States code by disrespecting the flag and all that it represents. About 81% of left wing democrats support the players who disrespect their country and those who fight for our freedom solely on the basis of a corrupt attempt to ruin the reputation of conservatism.
To conclude, the liberal agenda is clearly put on display for anyone who cares enough to check the facts. It is to ruin the reputation of conservatives and dispose of them from this country using whatever means possible while plaguing modern society with their beliefs on controversial topics. In this case they did this by lying about the police to falsely claim that our police forces, who keep in mind protect and serve their communities to the best of their ability, are so called “racist” so that they could prove to millennials that America needs to have more liberals to have true equality.
