Bernie Sanders Hypocrisy

Bernie Sanders was born on September 8, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York.  He served in the House of Representatives from 1991-2007 and was elected into the Senate from 2007 and reelected in 2012.  Moreover, he ran for president in 2016 loosing the Democratic Nomination to Hillary Clinton.  Bernie Sanders describes himself as a democratic socialist.

Socialism is among some of the most common political ideologies and supports a society in which everyone prospers equally.  Socialists advocate for equal income, medical care, education, and other necessities.  Socialism strongly opposes conservatism and capitalism and is connected with liberalism.

Bernie Sanders has a Senate salary of $174, 000 and earned about $858, 000 in book royalties.  This exceeds the requirement of $421,926 annual income needed to be in the top 1% of earners.  Instead of spreading his wealth and giving everyone equal class status like his political ideology supports, he spent his money on 3 houses including a $600, 000 beach house he bought in August of 2018.  In addition, he also passes the average American net worth of $300, 000 with over $1 million.

Bernie Sanders has commented on the wealthy class in a CNN column saying they are “never satisfied with what they have” and always want more.  He also commented on them in a tweet saying, “How many yachts do billionaires need? How many cars do they need? Give us a break. You can’t have it all.”  However, Bernie Sanders is among that wealthy class and for him 1 house was not enough so he bought 2 more.  This shows that not only is he hypocritical in his actions, but he is hypocritical in his speech as well.

In conclusion, socialist Bernie Sanders advocates the distribution of wealth and has claimed the wealthy have too much when he has 3 houses and is among the top 1% of earners making him extremely hypocritical.
