Al Gore Environmental Fraud

Al Gore is known as one of America’s most adamant environmental activists.  He was born on March 31, 1948, in Washington D.C and earned a degree in government in 1969 from Harvard University.  He was a U.S Representative from 1977-1985 and a U.S Senator for Tennessee from 1985-1993.  In addition, he also served as U.S Vice President from 1993-2001 under Bill Clinton.  He even ran for president in 2000 losing only by 5 electoral votes to George W. Bush. Al Gore is also member of the Democratic Party.

Al Gore is known for his political adamancy regarding his environmental activism.  Several of these moments of environmental activism can be found in his books An Inconvenient Truth: the Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It and Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit as well as in his various speeches and comments concerning the subject.  On December 10th, 2007, he received a Nobel Prize for his research and efforts towards resolving climate change.  He donated $1.6 million in prize money to a non-profit organization called Climate Reality Project.  He has constantly been telling modern society that we need to curb climate change and combat it before it becomes even more of a serious problem.

He said, “We, the human species, are confronting a planetary emergency – a threat to the survival of our civilization that is gathering ominous and destructive potential even as we gather here.”  When he mentions “a planetary emergency” he is referring to global warming and ultimately climate change.  This is a clear demonstration of his viewpoints on climate change; he sees it as a major threat to society.  Moreover, he claims that he lives a “carbon free lifestyle” and encourages Americans to reduce their carbon emissions.

If this is so, what would explain his massive home electricity bills?  Or his private jet?  A research study from the National Center for Public Policy Research found that Al Gore’s 10, 000 square foot home uses 21.3 times the national monthly average.  The same study found that just the energy he used to heat his pool could power 6 average American homes.  Moving on, he also was caught on camera getting off of a private jet.  This was not any private jet, but rather one of the most fuel inefficient aircrafts on the market.  His flight was from Nashville, Tennessee to San Francisco, California where he took another flight to Camarillo, California.  In total the trip emitted 55, 000 pounds of carbon dioxide.  The average American family could have driven from Nashville to San Fransico and back 15 times to equal the amount of carbon dioxide emissions left behind from Al Gore’s flight.  Furthermore, 112 commercial flights, a more efficient way of flying that emits less carbon dioxide per person, were available for his trip from Nashville to San Fransisco.

In summary, Al Gore is constantly saying that carbon dioxide emissions lead to greater global warming and pose a threat to all of humanity and that we should all try to reduce our carbon emissions for the betterment of earth.  However, he uses much more electricity than the average American family and travels using private jets instead of the much more efficient commercial flight or even a road trip.  This proves that Al Gore says nothing but lies and hypocrisy when he claims to live a “carbon free lifestyle because, in fact, just for one trip he used 55, 000 pound of it.

In conclusion, Al Gore has lied in the past when it comes to his viewpoints on climate change in an effort to convince environmentalists, and his fellow liberals, to vote for him in the 2000 elections. He also continues to lie to convince liberals that change in necessary when it comes to climate change and that they should oppose the conservatives who are not as concerned with climate change.
